Rhiannon Ketola
Elder law and Medicaid planning
Rhiannon leads the firm's elder law work: the questions about care, cost and what a spouse at home may keep.
She came to elder law after helping her own mother through a nursing home admission. Most of her clients are adult children who have never read a Medicaid notice and have a deadline in it. She is plain about what is possible and about what isn't.
Outside the office she answers questions at a couple of the area's senior center groups, without a sign-up sheet.

How Rhiannon works
She begins with a one-page picture of what the person owns, owes and earns, built together at the first meeting. Everything else is easier to explain once that page exists.
She writes to families after every meeting, in plain sentences, with the next two or three steps and who is doing each.
